Boston Scientific Spinal Pain Leads Get FDA and CE Mark Approval

October 23, 2014

Boston Scientific has garnered FDA and CE mark approval for its CoverEdge 32 and CoverEdge X 32 surgical leads for reducing spinal cord pain.

Designed for use with the company’s Precision Spectra spinal cord stimulator system, the leads are powered by Illumina 3D software, an anatomy-based computer model that precisely targets pain, according to the company.

The leads offer 32 independent contacts, double that offered by previous surgical leads, delivering more focused coverage of the spinal cord for more pain relief, the Marlborough, Mass., devicemaker says. Both models offer multi-column configurations of the contact points to target pain, with the X 32 offering the broadest span on the market, the company adds. — Kellen Owings
