Covidien’s Bedside Pulse Oximetry Monitor Earns CE Mark

November 25, 2014

Covidien has launched its Nellcor Bedside SpO2 Patient Monitoring System in Europe, Australia and New Zealand, following receipt of a CE mark. The device is the only bedside pulse oximetry monitor to feature home care and sleep study modes, the Irish devicemaker says.

The PM100N, as it is commonly known, continuously monitors the patient’s blood oxygen levels and pulse to help clinicians detect and respond early to dangerous respiratory events and assess the patient’s treatment, Covidien adds. The company’s exclusive signal processing provides unmatched speed and accurate readings even when there is signal interference, the devicemaker says.

The system also includes exclusive safety features, including password protection and SatSeconds Alarm Management technology to help caregivers distinguish between serious and minor events. — Kellen Owings
