BioMonde Launches BioBag Debridement Product in U.S.

January 7, 2015

Wound care firm BioMonde Wednesday announced the nationwide launch of its FDA-cleared BioBag, a debridement product for the treatment of nonhealing wounds such as pressure, diabetic and venostasis ulcers. The product will be available nationwide.

In anticipation of the launch, the company opened a third manufacturing facility in Gainesville, joining sites in Germany and Wales.

BioBag employs disinfected larvae within the dressing to naturally and noninvasively remove dead tissue from wounds, according to the Gainesville, Fla., company. The novel delivery system is cost-efficient and allows for precise debridement of wounds while keeping the patient comfortable, BioMonde added.

CEO Gareth Kempson noted that BioBag has a “proven track record throughout Europe as a clinically and cost-effective debridement treatment delivering rapid results.” — Kellen Owings
