Toshiba’s Combined CT and Interventional Lab System Gets FDA Nod

March 13, 2015

Toshiba America Medical Systems said Friday that it received FDA clearance for the Infinix 4D CT with Aquilion Prime CT system configuration — expanding the company’s first seamless integration between interventional labs and CT technology.

The Infinix 4D CT is an all-in-one interventional lab and CT system that delivers real-time CT images during procedures, as opposed to CT-like images. Interventionalists are able to see CT images of the target anatomy as they perform procedures, and clinicians can adjust the procedures with real-time images, the devicemaker said.

Toshiba’s SureGuidance technology allows for automatic transition between modalities, and because clinicians are able to perform CT and interventional procedures in the same room and confirm treatment success immediately following procedures, it saves a significant amount of time, Toshiba said.

The Infinix 4D CT previously received clearance with the Infinix Elite cardiovascular X-ray system and Aquilion One Vision Edition CT system. — Kellen Owings
