Stryker Spine’s New Lumbar Plating System Wins FDA Nod

March 27, 2015

The Stryker Corp.’s LITe Plate System — an anterior and lateral lumbar plate system — has received FDA 510(k) clearance, the Kalamzoo, Minn., company announced.

The system — featuring five one-level, slim lumbar plates, a WingSpring locking mechanism, high degree of screw angulation and simplified instrumentation — adds a critical component to the company’s anterior lumbar interbody fusion portfolio, said John Mayor, vice president marketing, Stryker Spine, on Wednesday.

The devicemaker’s ALIF portfolio includes the LITe Anterior Retractor and Aero-AL, which Stryker claims is the only in-line anchor-based ALIF device capable of compressing across the interbody.

The LITe Plate System was on display at last week’s American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons Annual Meeting in Las Vegas, Nev. — Jason Scott
