Coloplast’s Inflatable Penile Prosthesis Wins FDA Nod

April 23, 2015

Coloplast’s Titan Inflatable Penile Prosthesis has won approval from the FDA, the first IPP approval of its kind for ectopic reservoir placement, says the Minneapolis, Minn., devicemaker.

The company claims 90 percent of high-volume prosthetic surgeons support abdominal wall placement of an IPP reservoir in an ectopic location to improve patient safety. This type of placement is simpler and can prevent the severe complications — bowel, bladder and vascular injuries — associated with the standard of care, retroperitoneal reservoir placement.
