Strauss Surgical Wins Health Canada Approval for Endoscopes

Strauss Surgical has won Health Canada approval for its Optiks HD endoscopes, the Doral, Fla., devicemaker announced Tuesday.  

The devices are laser-welded to keep their parts secure, featuring a low-maintenance stainless steel body that is corrosion-, rust- and staining-resistant. Additionally, the devices have scratch-resistant insulated ocular objectives and distal saphir-windows that prevent internal glass corrosion. The fiber connector chambers enable quick fixation of the fiber optic laser light source, the company says.

The company has entered into an exclusive distribution agreement with AMT Electrosurgical to market the endoscopes for laparoscopy, endourology, arthroscopy and ENT sinuscopy procedures.

Strauss Surgical is owned by American Medical Endoscopy, which was founded in 1995. — Jason Scott
