Omron Launches Bluetooth Blood Pressure Monitor and Scale

May 5, 2015

Omron Healthcare has launched a new blood pressure monitor and a scale with Bluetooth technology that connects to a smartphone, tablet or other device to support telemedicine and mobile health applications.

The HEM-9200T blood pressure monitor features convenient, one-button operation, wide-range cuff to fit various upper arm sizes and an irregular heartbeat detector. The HN-290T scale has a measuring capacity of 550 pound, covering almost all patients without sacrificing accuracy. The measurement mode automatically turns on when someone steps on the scale, the large surface size enhances stability and a large font and display makes results easy to read, the Japanese devicemaker said.

The devices allow chronically ill patients the freedom to monitor their health from home instead of traveling to a hospital, says Jim Li, executive director of medical affairs at Omron.

Omron also offers a starter kit to ease the integration of its devices with telemedicine platforms. — Kellen Owings
