Welch Allyn Acquires Medical Scale Maker
Diagnostics maker Welch Allyn acquired White Plains, N.Y.-based medical scale maker Scale-Tronix for an undisclosed sum. The acquisition is the fourth for the Skaneateles, N.Y. firm in less than a year.
The acquisition adds a new diagnostic solution to Welch Allyn’s portfolio, President and CEO Steve Meyer said.
Scale-Tronix manufactures one of the most complete selections of patient scales and weighing systems in the industry, Welch Allyn said.
All 31 Scale-Tronix employees will be retained as the business transitions into Welch Allyn.
In January, Welch Allyn acquired Hubble Telemedical, a healthcare company that enables remote screening for diabetic retinopathy. In December, it purchased HealthInterlink, a medical software company specializing in remote monitoring of patient vital signs and last June it bought PediaVision Holdings, a maker of a portable vision screening device. — Kellen Owings
