Zecotek Granted U.S. Patent for Switchable 3D/2D Optical Imaging System

June 1, 2015

Zecotek Photonics’ switchable 3D/2D optical imaging system has been awarded U.S. Patent Office protection, the Canadian devicemaker announced Monday.

The auto-stereoscopic system’s technology enables switching between 3D and 2D modes without losing resolution and features the ability to view both content modes simultaneously.

Furthermore, it requires no special eyewear and allows for 40-degree viewing angles with 90 concurrent perspectives, and contains motion parallax which eliminates the sense of imbalance and dizziness that plague similar systems.

The company says the system preserves the base resolution in each perspective regardless of the number of views.

Zecotek has received patents for its 3D display system in the U.S., China, Europe, Asia Eurasia, Russia and Australia and has patents pending in Japan, South Korea and India. — Jason Scott
