Samsung Medical Center Installs Asia’s First Icon Device

June 12, 2015

Elekta will deliver its recently CE Marked Leksell Gamma Knife Icon cranial radiosurgery system to Samsung Medical Center in Seoul, South Korea, marking the device’s first shipment to the Asian market.

The system, which features online Adaptive DoseControl technology for precise dose delivery and frameless treatment capability, can target almost any part of the brain, the company says.

This comes on the heels of the Swedish firm’s announcement last week that the first device had been installed at University Hospital La Timone in Marseilles, France. U.S. FDA 510(k) clearance for the device is pending.
