Zecotek Touts PET Crystals Trial Results

June 16, 2015

Zecotek Photonics’ LFS scintillation crystals for use in commercial positron emission tomography medical scanners demonstrated more precise coincident time resolution when compared against competing crystals in CERN research group-conducted tests, the company claims.

The strongest indicator of PET scanner performance, and coincident timing resolution efficacy, is the type of crystals being used, the company says. The LFS crystals are dense, have high energy resolution and contain a fast decay time, all necessary qualities for peak performance.

Germany-based Zecotek also develops photo detectors, PET scanning technologies, three-dimensional auto-stereoscopic displays and lasers for applications in the medical, high-tech and industrial sectors. — Jason Scott
