OmniVision Launches CameraChip Sensor

OmniVision Technologies announced the launch of its CameraChip sensor for medical and industrial use Monday, with large-scale introduction expected third quarter of this year.

The device features 400 x 400 pixel resolution images and video the company says. The sensor relies on a low amount of power and is meant for use during minimally invasive endoscopic procedures.

The CameraChip has potential applications, with projections of future use with hysteroscopes, cystoscopes, falloposcopes, oledochoscopes and bronchoscopes. — Jason Scott
