ALung’s Hemolung Kits Win CE Mark

ALung Technologies’ Hemolung XG4 cartridge and catheter kits have received CE mark certification, the Pittsburgh, Pa., devicemaker said Thursday.

The products are intended for use with the Hemolung respiratory assist system, a minimally invasive system that removes carbon dioxide from the blood and provides respiratory dialysis. The system offers an alternative or supplement to mechanical ventilation for patients with acute respiratory failure.

Unlike earlier models, the cartridge kit includes a fully preconnected circuit, which eliminates several steps from the setup process, the company says. The catheter kit features all insertion accessories packaged in one sterile tray to maximize ease of use and cleanliness.
