Torax’s Linx System Gains FDA Nod

June 24, 2015

Torax Medical said Tuesday that its Linx MRI-conditional, reflux management system has secured FDA approval. The product is indicated for patients with gastro-esophageal reflux disease for whom medication is not effective.

Linx features interlinked titanium beads with magnetic cores that help the esophageal sphincter’s barrier function prevent reflux, the St. Paul, Minn., devicemaker says.

GERD allows harmful gastric fluid to move into the esophagus, which gradually wears down the esophageal lining. The disease has been linked with Barret’s esophagus, a condition that increases risk of esophageal cancer.

The device is available in the U.S. and Europe. — Jason Scott
