Medtronic Launches SureScan Pacer in U.S.

Medtronic said Thursday that it launched its Advisa SRI MRI-conditional SureScan single-chamber pacemaker in the U.S.

The Irish devicemaker says about 50 percent to 75 percent of patients with implantable cardiac devices will require an MRI scan.

The device enables scans without positioning restrictions and has improved diagnostic information and storage.

The company’s other MRI-conditional products include the Advisa DR and Revo dual chamber SureScan pacing systems, the Reveal LINQ insertable cardiac monitoring system, the SureScan neurostimulation system and the SynchroMed II programmable drug infusion system. — Jason Scott
