Caldera Medical Launches Vertessa Pelvic Mesh

June 26, 2015

Caldera Medical’s next-generation Vertessa lite mesh for sacrocolpopexy procedures to correct vaginal prolapse has launched, following receipt of FDA 510(k) clearance.

The polypropylene mesh is lighter than previous models, and is 31 percent stronger with a 32 percent greater suture pull-out strength when compared against market-leading mesh, the Agoura Hills, Calif., devicemaker said Friday.

The product also features larger pores to improve user tissue acceptance, and comes in Y-mesh, flat mesh sheets and mesh strips configurations.

The company claims 40 percent of women suffer from some form of prolapse, with about 250,000 surgeries carried out each year to remedy the condition. — Jason Scott
