Sorin, Cyberonic Rebrand as LivaNova

The Sorin Group and Cyberonics have unveiled the name of their new, proposed combined company, LivaNova.

LivaNova will consist of three divisions: cardiac surgery, cardiac rhythm management and neuromodulation, based in Mirandola, Italy, Clamart, France, and Houston, Texas, respectively. The company will market products in more than 100 countries and have an estimated 4,500 employees, Sorin said last week.

The merger is expected to be finalized by the end of this quarter, pending regulatory approval.

Milan, Italy-based Sorin manufactures cardiac surgery and cardiac rhythm management products.

Houston, Texas-based Cyberonics develops neuromodulation devices, including the vagus nerve stimulation therapy system for refractory epilepsy and treatment-resistant depression. — Jason Scott
