OBP Medical Launches Clear-Trac Disposable Surgical Retractors

Lawrence, Mass.-based OBP Medical announced Wednesday the launch of its Clear-Trac line of disposable surgical retractors.

The portfolio consists of the Clear-Trac SP for surgical pocket procedures, the Clear-Trac V for vaginal procedures and the Clear Trac B for breast procedures. All products feature a built-in light source to provide illumination during surgery.

Previously, retractors that could illuminate the operating area were reusable, complicated, required maintenance and had expensive operating costs, the devicemaker says.

By designing single-use retractors that don’t require assembly, the company claims these factors are no longer a problem and the potential for cross-contamination is eliminated. — Jason Scott
