DeGen Introduces F1 MPS Modular Pedicle Screw System

DeGen Medical has launched its F1 MPS modular pedicle screw system for thoraco-lumbar spine procedures, the Florence, S.C., devicemaker said Thursday.

The system comes with different surgical options such as pre-assembled or modular screws, straight or curved rods, and titanium or cobalt-chrome rods, and enables intra-operative flexibility for bone grafting and screw placement, the company says.

The first posterior lumbar fusion surgery using the device was performed by Dr. Daniel Williams at the First Health Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst, N.C. The device made it easier to visualize structures, reduced muscle damage and better prepared the fusion bed for faster recovery, he claims.
