Sorin Launces Heating and Cooling System Worldwide

The Sorin Group has launched its latest heating and cooling system, the FlexTherm, the Italian devicemaker announced last week.

The product manages patient body temperature by cooling and re-warming the blood during open-heart surgeries requiring cardiopulmonary bypass, the company says, adding that precise temperature control during these procedures may decrease morbidity and neurocognitive complications.

In addition, the device features a faster and improved disinfection system designed to minimize risk of error.

Sorin says the FlexTherm can be used in conjunction with the company’s HeartLink perfusion system.  — Jason Scott
