Valeant Set to Acquire Unilens Vision

Valeant Pharmaceuticals has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Largo, Fla.-based Unilens Vision for an estimated $28 million.

The move will allow Valeant to expand its specialty contact lens portfolio, giving it access to Unilens’ C-Vue brands of customizable and disposable contact lenses, as well as enabling the company to have a direct line to optometrists.

The deal is expected to close by September, subject to stockholder and regulatory approval, Unilens said Monday.

Based in Chantilly, Va., Valeant offers dermatology, eye care, neurology and consumer healthcare products. — Jason Scott
