PTS Diagnostics Introduces Blood Collection System

PTS Diagnostics is launching the PTS Pod, a point-of-care blood collection system meant to reduce biohazard exposure and decrease patient screening time.

Featuring fast-drying and tamper-resistant technology, the system relies on a fingerstick process to gather samples, returning results within three to five days of sample arrival at the laboratory, the company said Thursday.

Unlike conventional dried blood spot technology, the PTS Pod system requires less than three minutes of dry time, says President and CEO Robert Huffstodt.

The system offers the following tests: serum nicotine/cotinine, prostate specific antigen, thyroid stimulating hormone, creatinine, high-sensitivity C-reactive protein, testosterone, cortisol, lipid panel, glucose and A1C. — Jason Scott
