Neogen Launches Salmonella Serotyping Device

Lansing, Mich., devicemaker Neogen said Monday it has launched the NeoSeek pathogen DNA identification method for Salmonella genomic-based serotyping.

NeoSeek takes about 72 hours to render results and can test for the top 30 infection-causing strains of Salmonella, as identified by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the company says.

The product can also detect and identify seven toxin-producing E. coli serotypes.

Detection and identification of Salmonella can prevent the spread of foodborne illness and allow healthcare providers to better respond to an outbreak, notes Ed Bradley, vice president for food safety at Neogen.
