Varian to Purchase X-Ray System Supplier Claymont

July 30, 2015

Varian Medical Systems is acquiring Claymont, a privately held Netherlands-based supplier of components and subsystems for X-ray imaging equipment manufacturers, for $54.5 million, the company announced Wednesday.

Claymont has annual revenues of nearly $32.7 million and supplies high voltage connectors, ionization and solid state automatic exposure control systems for use in medical X-ray systems. The company has about 250 employees at manufacturing sites in the Netherlands, the Philippines and U.S. and offices in Switzerland, Italy and China.

Varian, based in Palo Alto, Calif., manufactures medical devices and software for treating cancer and other medical conditions using radiation. It employs about 6,900 people at manufacturing sites in North America, China and Europe and at 70 sales and support offices around the world.

The deal is expected to be completed by early August. —John Bechtel
