Tandem, Dexcom Pair Insulin Pumps, Glucose Monitoring Systems

Tandem Diabetes Care and Dexcom are entering into non-exclusive development agreements to pair their insulin pumps and glucose monitoring systems.

Tandem, based in San Diego, manufactures the t:slim, which it bills at the slimmest and smallest durable insulin pump on the market, and t:flex, which it bills as the first pump designed for patients with greater insulin requirements.

Tandem says the integration of its pump platform with Dexcom’s future continuous glucose monitoring system is an important step in aligning technologies to be used in automated insulin delivery systems.

Dexcom, also headquartered in San Diego, develops and markets CGM systems for use by patients with diabetes along with blood glucose monitoring systems for use by healthcare providers in hospital critical care settings. —John Bechtel
