Boston Scientific Closes Endo International Deal

Medical device manufacturer Boston Scientific has purchased American Medical Systems’ men’s health and prostate health businesses from Endo International for $1.6 billion.

The acquisition includes GreenLight XPS and HPS Laser Therapy systems designed to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia, AMS 800 Urinary Control system for involuntary urination and AMS 700 Inflatable Penile Prosthesis for erectile dysfunction.

Boston Scientific is expected to incorporate the new technologies into its urology and women’s health businesses and will name the joint entity Boston Scientific Urology and Pelvic Health business.

The deal also calls for Boston Scientific to potentially pay an additional $50 million based on milestone sales in 2016. The agreement does not include AMS’ women’s health business. —Michael Cipriano
