Lightpoint Receives $2.6 Million Grant from NIH

Lightpoint Medical has secured a $2.6 million grant from the National Cancer Institute to support clinical trials of its EnLight molecular imaging technology in lymph node cancer and an array of gynecologic cancers.

The EnLight fiberscope system is used to detect microscopic cancer deposits, enabling surgeons to catch cancers early and lowering the risk of recurrence or a repeat operation, the Cambridge, Mass., devicemaker says.  

Lightpoint, which specializes in image-guided surgery, will collaborate with doctors at Memorial Sloan Kettering to conduct the research. — Michael Cipriano
