Changing Technologies in Talks to Design Headrest for MRI Patients

August 20, 2015

Changing Technologies Inc. is in discussions to design customized headrests for patients undergoing MRI testing at a Houston-area cancer clinic, as it seeks to continue its expansion into medical 3D printing.

There are several challenges for CGHT in designing the headrests, as the materials cannot interfere or disrupt image resolution or clarity of the MRI testing. They also must be durable and comfortable to support the patient who must sit still during the test.

A demand for speedy medical solutions has resulted in an increase in 3D printing in medical applications, according to a study by P&S Market Research. The study finds this growth is expected to continue through 2020.
