ReShape Announces First Procedure for ReShape Integrated Dual Balloon System

ReShape Medical announced its first U.S. procedure for its FDA approved ReShape Integrated Dual Balloon System, a device intended to facilitate weight loss in obese adult patients with a BMI of 30 to 40.

The procedure was performed at Parkway Surgery Center in Ringgold, Ga.

The minimally invasive procedure, which takes about 20 minutes, delivers the balloon to the stomach through the mouth. The balloon is then inflated with a sterile solution, which takes up room in the stomach.

The delivery of the balloon is the first step of a 12-month program, which includes individual nutrition and exercise coaching to achieve a healthier lifestyle. — Michael Cipriano
