Boston Scientific Receives CE Mark for Deep Brain Stimulation System

September 11, 2015

Boston Scientific has received CE Mark for its Vercise Primary Cell Deep Brain Stimulation System, which aims to provide precise neural targeting to address the needs of patients suffering from Parkinson's disease, primary and secondary dystonia and essential tremor.

DBS therapy involves the placement of a device that stimulates specific areas in the brain using electrical signals.

The system features independent current control technology, which helps control the size and shape of stimulation.

It also includes a clinical effects map that features unique software solutions. The map captures data over time, visually summarizes the progress of individualized patient therapy and enables physicians to monitor and modify treatment. — Michael Cipriano
