Editor's Note: Obama nominates Califf to lead FDA

President Barack Obama nominated Robert Califf to become FDA commissioner. Califf has been serving as deputy commissioner for Medical Products and Tobacco since March. Before joining the FDA, Califf served as vice chancellor and professor of medicine at Duke University School of Medicine and the Duke University Medical Center between 1982 and 2015.
