Cynosure Receives China Clearance for Tattoo Removal Device

September 18, 2015

Cynosure has received clearance from the China Food and Drug Administration to market its PicoSure 755 nm wavelength for tattoo removal.

PicoSure’s ultra-short pulse duration creates an intense photomechanical impact that results in greater disruption of the target with fewer treatments and without injury to the surrounding skin, according to the Westford, Mass.-based company.

PicoSure’s 755 nm wavelength was cleared by the FDA in the fourth quarter of 2012, and was cleared for marketing in Canada, Australia, Korea and Taiwan.

Cynosure CEO Michael Davin says the company is pursuing additional clearances for skin rejuvenation and the removal of benign pigmented lesions. — Michael Cipriano
