St. Jude Medical Receives CE Mark Approval for Portico TAVR System Diameters

St. Jude Medical has received CE Mark approval for its 27mm and 29mm Portico Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement System, following previous approvals of the 23mm and 25mm valves.

The Portico valve portfolio consists of diameters ranging from 19mm to 27mm to accommodate a patient’s native anatomy.

The Portico system was developed to simplify TAVR procedures by improving control, ease of use and accuracy.

According to the St. Paul, Minn.-based company, the system enables the Portico valve to be fully recaptured and repositioned prior to full deployment and release from the delivery system. This provides physicians with more options to place the valve in the targeted location. — Michael Cipriano
