Zyga Receives Two Patents to Advance Simmetry Sacroiliac Joint Fusion System

September 23, 2015

Minnetonka, Minn.-based Zyga Technology has received two U.S. patents to advance its Simmetry sacroiliac joint fusion system, which aims to provide relief from lower back pain.

The first patent relates to the design of the company’s Simmetry Decorticator, which enables surgeons to prepare the sacroiliac joint for fusion by creating bleeding bone and space for autologous bone graft.

The other describes a method for revision of a failed previous SI joint fusion surgery, so patients who do not initially achieve satisfactory results have options for future treatment.
