Lima to Acquire Rights to Zimmer’s Knee and Elbow Products

Italian devicemaker Lima Corporate has reached an agreement with Zimmer Biomet Holdings to acquire the rights to the Zimmer unicompartmental high flex knee and the Discovery elbow system for the Japanese market.

The company previously gained the rights to these products for the European Economic Area and Switzerland.

The Japanese knee market is estimated to be more than $450 million, while the total elbow market estimated at more than $2.4 million, according to Lima.

Lima CEO Luigi Ferrari says the introduction of the high flex knee will support the expected 2016 Japanese launch of the company’s Physica total knee replacement. — Michael Cipriano
