SpineGuard Receives CE Mark for DSG Threaded Drill

SpineGuard has received CE mark approval to market its DSG threaded drill in Europe.

Based on the differential electrical conductivity in various tissue types, DSG technology is used during insertion of screw implants in the spine. It also provides real-time audio and visual feedback to surgeons, according to the company.

“This novel application of our DSG technology is the fruit of a close collaboration between our R&D team and our expert consulting surgeons,” says SpineGuard CTO and Co-Founder Stéphane Bette.

The first surgery, a thoraco-lumbar scoliosis correction, was performed at the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire in Lille, France. — Michael Cipriano.
