Hoya Acquires Knecht & Müller for Undisclosed Sum

Tokyo, Japan-based med-tech firm Hoya has acquired prescription lenses producer Knecht & Müller AG. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Knecht & Müller aims to develop products for spectacle wearers that are customized and optically accurate.

The acquisition expands Hoya’s footprint in the DACH region, including Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Hoya is a provider of eyeglasses, medical endoscopes, intraocular lenses and optical lenses, along with key components for semiconductor devices, LCD panels and HDDs. — Michael Cipriano
