ViewRay Receives Korean Approval for Radiation Therapy System

October 19, 2015

Oakwood Village, Ohio-based ViewRay has received approval from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety to sell its radiation therapy system in Korea.

The system uses MRI and radiation therapy delivery technology to provide high-quality pretreatment images and continuous soft-tissue imaging during treatment.

The first treatment using the system took place at Seoul National University Hospital less than four weeks after it was installed at the facility.

The treatment was performed for a patient with a single liver metastasis. Hong-Gyun Wu department chairman of SNUH, says the system was chosen because of its ability to deliver high doses to the target and minimize damage to the surrounding healthy tissue. — Michael Cipriano
