India’s CDSCO Sets Up Three-Month Training Program

October 26, 2015

India’s drug regulatory authority has set up a three-month training program for assistant drug inspectors that will run through the end of this year, as the agency works to ramp up their skill sets.

The Central Drugs Standard Control Organization developed an extensive training program for regulatory officials covering all functions of the agency, focusing on technical and regulatory, legal and administrative, managerial and ethical, and IT and communications skills.

The program will help bridge a “huge gap” in regulatory science, practices and knowledge, says G.N. Singh, India’s drugs controller general.

India’s prime minister approved a $270 million plan in August to strengthen the country’s drug regulatory system, including a training academy for regulatory and drug testing officials.
