Nephros Submits Filter to FDA for 510(k) Approval

River Edge, N.J.-based Nephros has submitted its S100 Point of Use filter to the FDA for 510(k) approval.

The ultrafilter is designed to filter Environmental Protection Agency quality drinking water to retain waterborne bacteria to assist in infection control.

It provides hospitals and medical facilities with temporary protection from bacteria that may be dispersed into the water from biofilm growing in a building’s piping infrastructure, such as legionella and pseudomona.

The filter, designed to provide three months of protection, attaches to the end of a sink faucet. — Michael Cipriano
