FDA Grants Fast Track to Insys Therapeutics’ Naloxone

The FDA has granted fast track designation to Insys Therapeutics’ Naloxone sublingual spray for treating opioid intoxication or overdose.

The fast track designation comes amid a sharp increase in opioid overdoses. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, deaths from prescription painkillers have quadrupled since 1999, killing more than 16,000 people in the U.S. in 2013.
