John Peters Named as Permanent Deputy Director of Office of Generic Drugs

November 10, 2015

John Peters has been tapped as the permanent deputy director of the Office of Generic Drugs, effective Nov. 2, CDER Director Janet Woodcock announced last week.

Peters, a family physician for 35 years before joining the FDA, will assist OGD Director Kathleen “Cook” Uhl in managing the office’s daily operations and providing scientific and technical guidance. He also will help develop new generic drug review initiatives and programs.

Peters came to the FDA in 2006 as a medical reviewer in CDER’s Office of Antimicrobial Products, and he joined the OGD in 2009. Earlier this year, he served as acting director of OGD when Uhl temporarily stepped down to deal with a health issue.
