Moximed Wins CE Mark for Atlas Knee System

Hayward, Calif.-based Moximed has won the CE mark for its Atlas knee system, a next-generation knee joint unloader for pre-arthroplasty patients.

The system — evaluated in a 40-patient, prospective, multi-center clinical study — is designed for patients wishing to preserve both their knee and their lifestyle, the company says.

Moximed also announced the first commercial use of the device in Verona, Italy.

Claudio Zorzi, MD, of the Ospedale Sacro Cuore Don Calabria says the next-generation system provides the same amount of joint unloading as the previous generation device, but also offers a smaller device footprint and a surgical technique customized to an individual patient’s anatomy. — Michael Cipriano
