Rasi Takes Office as EMA’s Executive Director

Guido Rasi took office as executive director of the European Medicines Agency last week.

The agency nominated him in October, nearly one year after he was forced to resign from the position due to a procedural issue. During that period, he served as principal adviser in charge of strategy for the EMA.

Rasi is the third executive director of the EMA; he served as executive director from November 2011 to November 2014. Thomas Lönngren was executive director from 2001 to 2010, and Fernand Sauer held the post form 1994 to 2000.
