St. Jude Wins CE Mark for MR-Conditional Labeling for Resynchronization Device

December 2, 2015

St. Paul, Minn.-based St. Jude Medical has won the CE Mark for magnetic conditional-labeling for its Quadra Assura cardiac resynchronization therapy defibrillator.

The device resynchronizes the beating of the heart’s ventricles, which often beat out of sync in heart failure patients.  Patients implanted with the device now can receive an MRI scan.

According to St. Jude, the device has been shown to reduce hospitalization rates by 53 percent. — Michael Cipriano
