FDA Green Lights Philosys’ Glucose Monitor for Android Users

The FDA has given its blessing to Philosys’ Gmate SMART blood glucose monitoring system and app for Android.

The system consists of a small, portable blood glucose meter that plugs into the headphone jack of a smartphone. The meter then provides fast, accurate blood glucose test results, the New York-based company says.

The quarter-sized meter and smartphone app combine to include diabetes management features, such as goal setting, graphing and the ability to email or text blood glucose test results to a family member or healthcare provider.
