Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center Signs Agreement for Intercept Blood System
December 7, 2015
The Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center has reached a three-year purchase agreement for the Intercept Blood System, a device marketed and sold by Cerus.
Featuring a nucleic acid targeting mechanism of action, the system – for the treatment of platelets and plasma – is designed to reduce the risk of transfusion-transmitted infections by inactivating pathogens such as viruses, bacteria and parasites that may be found in donated blood.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. — Michael Cipriano
