Roche Acquires Kapa Biosystems

Swiss drug giant Roche has acquired Kapa Biosystems, a provider of genomic tools in the life sciences sector, for an undisclosed sum.

The company’s tools optimize enzymes for next-generation sequencing, polymerase chain reaction and real-time PCR applications.

Roche made the acquisition as part of its plan to develop a differentiated NGS portfolio to provide a complete genetic testing solution, according to Dan Zabrowski, head of Roche Tissue Diagnostics and Sequencing Solutions. — Michael Cipriano
