Luminex Nabs FDA Clearance for Respiratory Pathogen Panel

Luminex has scored FDA clearance for its NxTAG respiratory pathogen panel, which detects 20 clinically relevant viral and bacterial respiratory pathogens.

The assay, which received the CE Mark in October, is a single closed tube system and is the first to be able to detect 20 respiratory pathogens, according to the Austin, Texas-based company.

Requiring only minutes of hands-on time, the panel can process a single sample or up to as many as 96 samples per run.

It also has the ability to detect atypical bacteria such as Chlamydophila pneumoniae and Mycoplasma pneumonia. — Michael Cipriano
